Nintendo's next-generation game console has long been known as the Revolution. That was only it's codename, though, and not its official name. Nintendo announced today that the system has been christened the 'Wii'. Pronounced 'we'.

It's supposed to emphasize the collective nature of modern gaming, but instead it just constantly reminds one of . In American English, anything sounding like 'we' is a 1st person plural pronoun, an expression of somebody having fun (whee!), or . When used in a purely noun or verb form, it's always . The name of the game console is a noun. So this was incredibly stupid.
The new console actually promises to be a rather innovative system. Now it's a punchline. Great move, guys!
